Brian Sims is a known American Track and Field High Jumper of the 70's and 80's.  Brian has won Governors honors in Art from the state of Georgia and was Georgia State High School high jump champion in 1978, with a jump of 6'10" breaking  the best state mark of 6'8". Brian was coached by Middle Tennessee State University coach Dean Hayes. MTSU won the Ohio Valley Conference in 1979. At Ventura College in Ventura CA, Brian placed 3rd in the Small Colleges Championships behind 1st place Tyke Peacock, who was ranked #1 in the world at that time. At Long Beach State University coached by John Tansley, Brian Sims is listed #6 on the all time best High Jumpers with a jump of 7 feet..  Number 1 is High Jumper Dwight Stones. Brian holds the high jump record at both North Cobb High School under Coach Roscoe Googe and Ventura College under Coach Tuck Mason.  Brian Sims best U.S. High Jump mark was 7'3".
